I. Call to Order: 8:35 A.M. by Chairman Richard Beal.
II. Review / Signing Financial Warrants
Warrant #07: 7,371.69
Warrant #08: 307.00
Warrant #09: 6,967.37
Warrant #10: 19,424.63 (school)
Warrant #11: 36,876.56
Total: 70,947.25
All Warrants were signed by the Selectmen.
III. Review / Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes: February 11, 2015
Section IV, New Business, Subsection A, Discussion: 12 Maple Avenue, Potential Purchase by the Town: Selectman Sprague suggests that in paragraph 5 an additional sentence be added: The Town pays for its own heat and electric costs.
Richard Beal moves to approve the February 11, 2015 Board of Selectmen’s meeting minutes with the one suggested addition. Charles Dunbar seconds the motion, with a unanimous vote by Florence Joy Sprague. Motion passes.
IV. New Business
A. Transportation Task Force
Cory Duggan and Skip Stevens will do the presentation at the annual Town meeting on article 21, $62,352 to continue the CI commuter ferry service, and article #23, $20,000 for consulting and other professional services in order to form a plan for passenger ferry and freight operations for the Town.
B. Acadia Disposal District: MRC Update re: Fiberight, LLC
The Selectmen have received an email communication from the Municipal Review Committee, Inc. explaining development agreement with Fiberight, LLC of Maryland to develop a new waste to energy facility in Hampden. This proposed facility would replace the existing PERC facility in Hampden.
C. League of Towns: MDI Proposed Fire Training Facility Update
The League of Towns has forwarded a proposal for a preliminary evaluation of a potential site for the construction of a fire training facility located adjacent to the MDI High School. The proposal comes from Hedefine Engineering & Design, Inc. of Ellsworth. The Fire Training Facility would require a memorandum of understanding from the MDI High School Board for setting up on school property. Cranberry Isles would be required to pay a fee for sending students to this training facility.
V. Other Business
• Some discussion takes place over what the next step would be if the voters turn down the warrant article requesting to borrow up to $459,000 for the purpose of purchasing land and its associated buildings on Little Cranberry Island for use as a Town office. Selectman Beal feels the Town needs to understand the working conditions of the present space.
