Cranberry Isles School Board Workshop
with Sealander Architects
at Mount Desert Island High School
16 October 2014

Attendance: Kelly Sanborn, Cari Alley, Amy Palmer
Others in attendance: Robyn Sealander, Mike Sealander, Barbara Meyers
Howard Colter and Heather Webster (arrived late)

Call to Order: 9:39 a.m.

Discussion of Plans

- Front access ramp: no longer going with the parking grade. Instead we will have the ramp offside with a wheelchair ramp.
- Propane heat option: 100 lbs tank. We all feel that there will be no issue with delivery of propane.
- Suspended Ceiling: the ceiling will still be 10 feet high. We discussed the insulation for the 2nd floor and the use of the attic. There will be 12 inches of insulation up there. We also discussed the heat option for 2nd floor. There is a monitor up there that is paid for by the Futures Group.
- Front Entry: the front access will have a storm front door and storm windows.
- Structure wise: 1st floor is ok. 2nd floor needs work for strength and to bring it to code. We discussed pillars in the main classroom.
- Discussion of the attic and its contents: it was suggested that we look over the contents and decided what to keep. The bell is one item to save. All other items we should ask the Cranberry Isles Historical Society if they have any interest in the item. It was suggested to ask Mike Westphal for help with trying to make a plan to get items out of the attic. The stairs are hard to access.
- Window in Library behind the Librarian’s desk needs to be replaced due to it impress the roof line of the new plans.

Next Step:
- Talk with Mike W. and the CIHS about the attic.
- Sealander will continue to finalize the drawings. They will prepare the “Finishes Plan”. Timeline is about 3

Motion to adjourn made by Amy Palmer at 10:54 a.m., seconded by Cari Alley, and unanimously approved.

Respectfully submitted:
Cari Alley, CISB Secretary
